Visiting Times

Visiting times are: 14.30-16.30 and 18.30-20.30.

During the hours of 12.00 to 14.00 we have quiet time. Quiet time is a period when the lights are dimmed, the blinds are closed allowing baby’s to rest.

Children under the age of 16 are not permitted on the unit unless they are siblings.

Parent Facilities

We have a parent’s sitting room/kitchen with tea and coffee making facilities, along with a microwave, toaster and fridge to store any food/drinks you may wish to bring.

We have two double bedrooms available on the Unit for rooming in. These are usually used by Parents whose baby is very ill or for Parents who are getting ready for discharge.

We also have a family room on the unit, which doubles up at times as a meeting room for discharge planning meets etc. whereby we encourage time in the days leading up to discharge to be spent in the family room to help you feel more confident for when you take your baby home.

Sibling Areas

We have a dedicated play room for siblings and gift sibling packs.

Refreshments

We have a parent’s kitchen area where there are tea/coffee making facilities, microwave, toaster and fridge for storing food.

There is a hospital restaurant, shop and Costa coffee.

Support for Going Home

Most babies that have spent more than seven days on the neonatal unit will receive support from the neonatal community outreach team.  If you live outside of the catchment area your health visitor will be your main support once you are home.  Health visitors are fully informed of your baby’s progress during the baby’s stay on the neonatal unit so they will be familiar with your baby’s history.

Additional Information

Upon admission you will be given written information about the Neonatal unit and the Neonatal Network in which we are part of.
We aim to deliver Family Centred Care with your baby at the heart of what we do. If you have any questions or concerns then please let us know.
